What is T400 yarn?
T400 is a bi-component polyester filament. The two polyester components shrink differently in heat finishing, which creates crimp and gives the woven fabric inherent stretch and recovery without adding spandex (elastane) to the yarn.
What is the difference between T400 and spandex (SP)?
T400 is polyester-based stretch: it keeps a woven polyester face, usually offers moderate stretch with good shape retention, and is generally easier to dye/finish with polyester processes. Spandex (SP) is an elastane fiber added for higher stretch and bounce-back, but it can be more sensitive to heat, chlorine and long-term aging. Choose T400 when you want polyester stretch and easier care; choose SP blends when you need higher elastic stretch and softer snap-back. Exact stretch % should be confirmed by lab test to your target.
